Winford Manila Hotel & Casino

Winford Manila Hotel & Casino is one of the nearby hotels in the metro that you could go to for a relaxing staycation.

Room rates for walk-in customers ranges from Php8,000 up. They have occasional promos that you could look out for. For the techy ones, you can book via the online booking platforms such as www.agoda.com, www.booking.com, etc to get better deals.

So far, the lowest online price I saw was from www.agoda.com wherein rooms ranges from Php4,000 up. That is almost half of the room rates of walk-in customers.

The hotel is also situated behind a mall. You could conveniently cross the street to stroll around SM San Lazaro. The mall has shops for class B and C.

Let us take a tour of the place.

Room

We got the deluxe king bed room. The bed has the right firmness that we are used to. The pillows are on the softer side but manageable.

The deluxe room looks exactly as the one posted in their website.

The room is carpeted. I am partial to rooms that are bare, since they are cleaner for me.

The bathroom contains all the required toiletries. No toilet bidet, so those used to having one will need to adjust.

Closets are also available with 2 pairs of free slippers. The slippers has a half-inch rubber and is not the flimsy kinds which makes you feel like you are walking barefoot on the floor.

Room service dining is also available. Price is not bad at around Php200-400 per dish. Perfect for those who are too tired to go out.

Here's the room service menu managed by Copa de Manila:

Pool

The pool area is superb. Colorful lights line the pool side at night. The pool is also equipped with massage falls that provide just the right pressure for water massage.

The guard on duty has a checklist of all guests booked in the hotel to ensure only guests swim in the pool.

No need to bring any towel as the shower area has towels for the swimmers.

The pool operates until 10:00 P.M.

For those with kids, this is your dream pool. Winford Manila Hotel & Casino has two types of pools. The main pool and the kiddie pool.

Main pool

The main pool is located right beside the kiddie pool. When we went there, the pool was heated at night. It was summer, so the water temperature was just about right in the morning without the heater for a comfortable swim. Better check with the hotel as to. When they turn on the heater at night, since it was not heated on our second night.

The main pool also has elevated areas that are one-foot deep where you can sit on. The elevated areas may also serve as lounging areas for kids and babies. Here, the adults stay dipped in the water while the kids play in the elevated area.

Elevated area is the one on the lower right of the picture and in the area of the massage falls.

Kiddie pool

The depth of the pool is just 1 foot. Adults may also dip in it to accompany their children or just enjoy shallow water.

The pool is perfect for children who can already sit attended or on their own.

The water here is not heated but leaning on the wall that houses the main pool will make you feel warm if the heater of the main pool is turned on.

Pool-side open bar

Menu is composed of common pica-pica such as flavored fries, spaghetti, alcoholic beverages, etc. The menu is priced just right.

On weekends, indie acoustic singers serenade the night.

Gym

Winford Manila Hotel & Casino's gym has the basic gym equipment you will need. It doesn't have a vast choice but enough to get your sweat fix. Every time I peek, there is no one using it, so you could get the privacy you want. The gym operates until 10:00 P.M.

Spa, facial, and massage service

Winford Manila Hotel & Casino also has a spa and massage center located just across the salon. Branded as SM Kenko Spa, they offer a wide range of different massages in varying aromatherapy choices.

If you avail any of the massages in SM Kenko Spa, you are entitled to swim in the pool even if you are not checked in the hotel. Up to 2 people can swim for every massage. I am not sure if the facial service includes such pool benefits too.

Here is the posted price list of all their services:

Salon

Winford Manila Hotel & Casino also has an in-house salon branded as Head to Toe Salon.

Better check the operating hours with the reception as it was already closed when we passed by 8:00 P.M.

Casino

The gaming area is not as big as those major casino hotels, but has all the major casino games worth playing. Slot machines in different themes abound the area. The hotel also has a bingo area if you want to go slow.

There is also an area where famous performers make their appearance every Saturday. Look out for Facebook posts as to who will be the performer. The entertainment area of the casino usually fills up with patrons when famous comedians or singers are hired for the night. Fee is usually Php1000 for you to be guaranteed a seat. The fee is also consumable for food and drinks.

Breakfast buffet

There are room package options that include free breakfast buffet for two people at Copa de Manila. My advice is to avail a room with the free breakfast buffet. The breakfast buffet is priced at Php500 per adult and Php200 per child.

The choices range from appetizers, bread station, egg station, main courses, salad bar, smoothies, desserts, and drink station. The variety is impressive considering it was packaged as free with the room.

Restaurant

For upscale dining, you may try the Choi Garden. It is the Chinese restaurant situated on the second floor.

Verdict

Thumbs up. With the online price we paid for this experience, it is worth it. We will definitely come back when we need a quick break.

Major setback for me is the smell upon entrance. As with most hotels with casinos situated by the entrance, cigarette smoke fills the entrance to the lobby area. You could take the entrance from the drop off area on after the parking entrance if you want to skip the smell half-way.
